The Festa Manna di Gaddura (The Big Festival of Gallura) culminates on 8 September, the day on which the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated. The believers organise this solemn anniversary from 30 August, with the Novena, nine evenings of singing and prayer, followed by the traditional parade of religious flags for the districts and cussorge of Luogosanto. Of particular importance are the day of the eve, Lu Vèsparu, and 9 September, dedicated to Santu Gjaseppa (Saint Joseph). The great Gallura festival ends on the eighth day after the Nativity, on 15 September, with the Festa di l’ottu (Feast of the eighth day). The religious rites of the days of the Festa Manna are accompanied by many small and large events, such as games, book launches and musical performances.
