On the shores of Lake Liscia, in Santu Baltolu - Carana you can admire the old olive trees, one of which is particularly important in Italy, called S'Ozzastru. It was declared a natural monument in 1991 and it is said that eight men would not be able to encircle its trunk even with their arms extended. The tree is 8 metres high, with a circumference of 12 metres and its age is estimated to be between 3,000 and 4,000 years, making it one of the "elders" of Europe. The most renowned nature guidebooks mention the S’Ozzastru as one of the 20 secular trees of Italy.
